FRT Robotics Unveils Industrial Wearable Robot 'StepUp NEO' at KOREA MAT 2026 — 43% Less Muscle Fatigue

Exoskeleton specialist FRT Robotics (CEO Jang Jae-ho) presented its next-generation industrial wearable robot 'StepUp NEO' at the 16th International Logistics Industry Exhibition (KOREA MAT 2026), held from Tuesday, March 31 to Friday, April 3 at KINTEX Hall 2 in Ilsan. Officially launched this year, StepUp NEO was developed for field workers who repeatedly handle heavy loads in logistics, manufacturing, construction, and nursing care. By relieving strain on the lower back and body during work, it has proven effective in preventing musculoskeletal disorders, and is now in full-scale sales across multiple industries alongside active field testing. 'StepUp NEO' applies a lightweight passive design developed to reduce the musculoskeletal burden that arises during repetitive heavy-load handling. The product reached commercialization after field validation across manufacturing, logistics, construction, and agriculture, as well as physically demanding industrial and public-sector environments such as nursing and care services. The core of StepUp NEO is a passive mechanism that operates without a power source or battery. By efficiently distributing and transferring energy generated from the user's own movement, it relieves pressure on the lower-back muscles and joints during specific motion ranges. It is particularly effective at reducing muscle fatigue and exertion in repetitive sitting-and-standing motions, waist-bending tasks, and processes performed in fixed postures for extended periods. Field demonstrations recorded an average 43% reduction in muscle fatigue and a 25% reduction in muscle exertion, confirming improved work sustainability. The lightweight design is equally notable. The exoskeleton itself weighs 2.85 kg, and just 3.6 kg including the harness, minimizing additional fatigue during extended wear. While simplifying the structure, the design applies high-strength lightweight materials to reinforce both durability and portability. Field-oriented ergonomic design is another strength. Approximately 120 degrees of hip joint range of motion allows natural accommodation of everyday work movements such as walking, turning, and climbing stairs. Harness length and frame structure can be finely adjusted to the user's body type and work environment, and a folding leg-frame structure adds convenience for storage and transport. Requiring no separate charging or power supply, this structure proves especially valuable in environments with frequent shift changes or extended continuous operation. Multiple workers can wear the equipment in rotation without downtime, delivering high operational efficiency and low maintenance burden — drawing attention as an exoskeleton solution that combines both durability and scalability. FRT Robotics is accelerating its push into export markets alongside domestic exhibitions. Following consecutive participation in MWC Barcelona in Spain and JEC World in Paris this past March, the company is demonstrating its global technological capability and moving into full-scale overseas market development. The company also plans to launch an Active Type model, 'StepUp NEO Powered,' later this year. The model strengthens existing assistance functions with powered walking and transport support, delivering more robust on-site assistance.

An FRT Robotics representative said, "This International Logistics Industry Exhibition will be a valuable opportunity for visitors to wear StepUp NEO and experience its performance firsthand," adding, "We plan to actively propose specific use cases and solutions across a range of industries, including logistics." Meanwhile, KOREA MAT 2026 — held concurrently with KOREA PACK & ICPI WEEK 2026 — will provide a venue for meeting logistics experts across sectors through dedicated pavilions for logistics services and logistics startups. Exhibitions of optimized logistics center management systems and last-mile delivery services will be held alongside related conferences, and information on overseas investment environments and opportunities to build global networks will also be provided to support the overseas expansion of Korean shippers and logistics companies.
