KAIST Global Commercialization Center (KAIST GCC, Director Choi Moon-ki) announced on the 9th that it held a presentation and awards ceremony for best practices in robot demonstration and technology advancement — part of a public-demand innovation program run in cooperation with the National Police Agency's Future Security Policy Bureau — at the National Police Agency headquarters on the 4th.

The program was launched as part of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' "Super-Gap Startup 1000+ Project," administered by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development. KAIST GCC worked with the National Police Agency's Future Security Policy Bureau and regional police agencies to identify public-sector needs in areas such as policing, disaster response, search, and patrol. Based on those field requirements, five super-gap robotics companies were selected and supported for demonstration.

The five companies selected — Lion Robotics, TeamGrit, Narma, Geosona, and FRT Robotics — shared their field demonstration results and technology innovation outcomes based on National Police Agency requirements. Plans to expand robot adoption across the public sector were also discussed. The demonstration verified a range of functions through more than 12 field tests, covering search, autonomous patrol, counter-terrorism response, rescue, underwater exploration, and wearable equipment.

Do Jun-su, Director General of the Future Security Policy Bureau at the National Police Agency, said the program was "a meaningful demonstration that confirmed the practical viability of domestic robot technology under actual field operating conditions, rather than simple technical verification."

Kwon Hyun-jung, Head of the Startup Innovation Growth Division at KAIST GCC, emphasized that the demonstration was "an important opportunity to connect the technical capabilities of private robotics companies with real demand in public-sector fields," adding that KAIST GCC will "continue to accelerate the commercialization of robotics companies' technologies by building a field-data-based verification system and expanding public-private cooperation."
