[Sports Seoul Reporter Shin Jae-yoo] Ahead of the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, robot companies are competing to take the lead in the global market. Meanwhile, FRT Co., Ltd. (CEO Jae-ho Jang), a leader in the commercialization of robot technology, is receiving extraordinary attention.

This company specializes in the design and production of wearable robot products, founded in 2015 by robot engineers from the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. Based on unrivaled technology and know-how, the company was recognized for its capabilities by developing ‘HyPER’, a hydraulic wearable robot with a human body-compatible driving mechanism for the first time in Korea.

The special-purpose 'HyPER R1' and the multi-purpose 'HyPER M1' are wearable robots in the form of exoskeletons that are attached to the outside of the body of operators working in civil and military fields such as disaster, fire, and production sites.

The small hydraulic drive device mounted on the device supports the operator's muscular strength to perform his or her duties, allowing the user to easily move heavy objects with little force, resulting in excellent work efficiency, and implementing a shock absorber to reduce body fatigue.

FRT is focusing on research on improving the performance, miniaturization, and commercialization of 'Hyper', and is expected to be used in various fields such as firefighting, medical care, welfare, leisure, and national defense in the future. This company has been selected as an excellent company in the senior-friendly industry in the Busan region since 2016, and was selected for the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation's Startup Business Support Project and received financial support.

In 2017, he received the Prime Minister's Award for submitting 'Hyper', a wearable robot for muscle strength that helps overcome human physical limitations, at the 2nd 'Future Growth Engine Challenge Demo Day' hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning.

Subsequently, the 4th Industrial Revolution flagship MOU was signed with Gyeongsangbuk-do, and a business agreement was signed with the Korea Institute of Robotics and Convergence and TrekSta for the development and mass production of the world's first wearable robot-based high-tech shoes. Through this, we plan to promote joint development of product design and technology using wearable robot technology, product commercialization, technology transfer, and consulting support.

FRT Co., Ltd. is focusing all its efforts on R&D to dominate the global market, exporting hyper for defense and hyper for healthcare to overseas, and plans to participate in a global defense exhibition in October. CEO Jae-ho Jang said, “We are planning to operate an experience center to increase the accessibility of wearable robots.”
