The Ministry of SMEs and Startups held a 'New Super-Gap Startup Plaque Unveiling Ceremony and Discussion' on the 20th at Contec in Daejeon, attended by representatives of super-gap startups in artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technology, as well as officials from the Korea Aerospace Research Institute and other organizations.

This event was prepared to reflect the on-site voices of new super-gap startups in 5 fields, including space, aviation, marine, artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum technology, which have been expanded this year among the 10 major super-gap fields such as system semiconductors and bio-health, into policies and to discuss ways to enter the global market.

The 'Super Gap Startup 1000+ Project (DIPS 1000+)' is a project to select and intensively support more than 1,000 excellent high-tech (deep tech) startups that will lead the future of the national economy in 10 new industries through public-private joint efforts for 5 years from last year to 2027, and to foster global unicorns.

Startups were recruited through various methods such as open recruitment, private verification, and ministry recommendation, and a total of 217 companies were finally selected through an evaluation with a high competition rate of 13.1:1 (based on the open recruitment method).

20 system semiconductor companies, 37 bio-health companies, 20 mobility companies, 30 eco-friendly and energy companies, 32 robot companies, 35 artificial intelligence and big data companies, 21 cybersecurity and network companies, 12 space, aviation and marine companies, 5 next-generation nuclear power plant companies, and 5 quantum technology companies were selected as super-gap startups.

Along with this, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups selected 15 startups that received support from the Innovative Field Startup Package project for 3 years from 2020 as follow-up support companies through a

separate evaluation of their global technology and sales, employment, and investment performance. This includes 4 companies that grew through the support program and were listed on the KOSDAQ.

Minister of SMEs and Startups Oh Young-ju emphasized, "We will focus all policy capabilities to support Korean deep-tech startups so that they can grow into unicorns leading the global market through the Super Gap Project."
