On the 20th, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups held a 'New Super Gap Start' event at Contact in Daejeon, with about 20 people in attendance, including representatives of super gap start-ups (startups) such as artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technology, and executives and employees of host institutions such as Korea Aerospace Research Institute. A signboard hanging ceremony and meeting was held.

This event will feature new super-gap start-ups in five fields including aerospace/marine, artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum technology, which have been expanded starting this year among the 10 super-gap fields such as system semiconductors, life (bio), and health care (healthcare). It was prepared to reflect voices from the field in policies and discuss ways to enter the global market.

The 'Super Gap Startup 1000+ Project (DIPS 1000+)' is a public-private joint venture for five years from last year to 2027 to select excellent high-tech (deep-tech) start-ups (startups) that will lead the future of the national economy in 10 new industries. ) This is a project to select more than 1,000 companies and foster global unicorns through intensive support.

Start-ups were recruited through various methods such as general public offering, private verification, and ministry recommendation, and the final 217 companies were selected after evaluation at a high competition rate of 13.1:1 (based on public offering method).

20 system semiconductor companies, 37 bio/health companies, 20 mobility companies, 30 eco-friendly/energy companies, 32 ROOT companies, 35 artificial intelligence/big data companies, 21 cybersecurity/network companies, 12 aerospace/marine companies, 5 next-generation nuclear power plants. Five quantum technology companies were selected as super-gap startups.

In addition, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups selected 15 startups with excellent global technological performance, sales, employment, and investment performance as follow-up support companies among the startups that received support for the innovation startup package project for three years from 2020 through a separate evaluation. This includes four companies that grew through support projects and were listed on KOSDAQ.

Oh Young-joo, Minister of SMEs and Startups, emphasized, "We will intensively support all policy capabilities so that Korea's deep tech startups can grow into unicorns that will lead the global market through super-gap projects."
