FRT Robotics Strengthens Global Wearable Robot Export Network Through Canadian Defense Industry Cooperation Roadshow

The 2025 Canada–Republic of Korea Security and Defence Cooperation Partnership (SDCP) Roadshow, aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation between Korea and Canada in the defense industry, was held on Friday, November 7, at The Westin Ottawa Hotel in Ottawa, Canada.
The event was jointly organized and hosted by Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), the Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement (KRIT), and the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC). Approximately 100 government and defense-industry stakeholders from both countries attended the event. The Korean delegation included around 50 participants from DAPA, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Canada, KRIT, and major Korean defense companies, while the Canadian side was represented by officials from the Department of National Defence, CCC, the military, and defense contractors.
Expanding Korea–Canada Defense Cooperation into a Global Security Partnership
The roadshow was held under the framework of the Korea–Canada Security and Defence Cooperation Partnership (SDCP) to strengthen practical bilateral cooperation. Amid an increasingly complex global security environment, the two countries discussed collaboration across a wide range of areas, including defense industry development, technology exchange, procurement systems, and research and development (R&D), with the goal of establishing a sustainable security cooperation framework.
Key topics included defense technology exchange and co-production, industrial supply-chain cooperation and the sharing of procurement systems, collaboration in emerging security technologies such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and space defense, as well as expanded mutual participation in major defense exhibitions including CANSEC and ADEX.
FRT Robotics Accelerates Entry into the Defense Sector and Expansion of Export Capabilities
Wearable-robot specialist FRT Robotics Co., Ltd. also participated in the roadshow, holding discussions on cooperation opportunities with the Canadian Department of National Defence and related defense organizations. Based on its industrial exoskeleton technology, FRT Robotics is developing power-assist wearable robot solutions applicable to defense and disaster-response fields.
Through these technological capabilities, the company is creating new export opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises in overseas markets traditionally dominated by large corporations, while accelerating its entry into the defense sector and expansion into global markets. FRT Robotics is currently strengthening relevant certifications and technical partnerships with the aim of entering Korea’s defense industry, while actively building domestic and international defense-industry networks.
In September, the company established a local subsidiary in Silicon Valley, laying the foundation for entry into the North American market and a global business hub. It is also pursuing export cooperation agreements in Dubai with local companies supplying wearable solutions to UAE military units. In addition, FRT Robotics continues to strengthen its global network through participation in major international exhibitions such as MWC, Hannover Messe, and GITEX, and plans to accelerate its expansion into the North American market through participation in this Canada–Korea defense export roadshow.
A company representative stated, “As wearable robot technology can contribute to personnel protection and efficiency improvement in both military and industrial fields, this defense cooperation roadshow represents a highly meaningful opportunity,” adding, “We will continue to expand global partnerships and actively promote the competitiveness of Korea’s defense technologies in the global market.”
