To establish Gyeongbuk as a hub for the robotics industry, the province will prioritize the development of agricultural robots in the northern region, mobility robots in the southern region, maritime collaborative robots in the eastern region, and the robot parts industry in the western region. Gyeongbuk Province is pursuing a vision and strategy aimed at establishing a regional "Artificial Intelligence (AI) Robotics Belt."

On the 11th, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province held a final report meeting on the "Gyeongsangbuk-do Robot Industry Ecosystem Creation and National Project Identification Research Service" at the Anmin Hall medium conference room of the provincial government building. At the meeting, the province unveiled its vision: "Leading the Republic of Korea's AI Robot Growth Model with the Power of Gyeongsangbuk-do." It also announced its goal of revitalizing the local economy and building a sustainable industrial ecosystem through the robotics industry. To achieve this goal, the province also unveiled strategies for expanding AI robots in the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, promoting inclusive growth of service robots, strengthening the growth foundation of the AI robotics industry, and establishing regional AI robotics belts.

Gyeongsangbuk-do Province plans to maximize productivity by integrating AI and robotics technologies across all industries, including agriculture, manufacturing, and service, to build a convergence ecosystem of robots and AI. This will involve upgrading traditional industries to enhance their competitiveness and restructuring them into a new, cutting-edge technology-based industrial structure. An investment fund will be established to foster the growth of robotics companies. Furthermore, the province plans to build a sustainable ecosystem by fostering venture companies and training AI, robot, and software (SW) talent.

In particular, the robotics industry will be specialized by region. The northern region will focus on developing bio-, agricultural-, and forestry-related robot systems, while the western region will focus on service robots and robot parts. The southern region will foster mobility and rehabilitation robots, and the eastern region will foster maritime, fisheries, and safety collaborative robots. Through these efforts, the plan is to establish an "AI Robotics Belt" tailored to each region's unique characteristics. Gyeongbuk Province anticipates that AI service robots will play a pivotal role in improving the quality of life and enhancing welfare.

In addition, the province will actively pursue national projects, including the development of smart agricultural and forestry robot technology, the establishment of a cutting-edge manufacturing robot platform, the development of AI-based specialized robots (for defense, nuclear power, construction, etc.), and the training of robotics experts. Lee Jeong-woo, Director of the Gyeongbuk Province MetaAI Science Bureau, stated, "The robotics industry is a key area for future technological innovation, and we will leverage the results of this research into practical policies and projects to help Gyeongbuk leap forward as a hub for cutting-edge technology."
